REDS CARAVAN TO MAKE STOP AT LOUISVILLE SLUGGER FIELD
Louisville, KY - The 2012 Reds Winter Caravan, presented by CincinnatiUSA.com, will make its annual stop in Louisville on Sunday, January 29 at Louisville Slugger Field from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature Reds broadcaster and former Louisville Bats broadcaster Jim Kelch, broadcaster and former pitcher Jeff Brantley, Manager Dusty Baker, infielder Todd Frazier, 2011 Minor League Player of the Year Billy Hamilton, VP of Baseball Operations Dick Williams, Reds mascot Rosie Red and Bats mascot Buddy Bat.
The very popular Reds Caravan provides fans with the opportunity to interact with current and former players, broadcasters, and members of the Reds front office staff. The group will field questions from fans and sign autographs. The Reds will also raffle off two tickets to the 2012 Opening Day game against the Miami Marlins on Thursday, April 5.
Sales representatives from both the Cincinnati Reds and Louisville Bats will be on hand to discuss season tickets and group outings, while the Reds Hall of Fame, the Reds Community Fund and Cincinnati USA Regional Tourism Network will also be in attendance. For the first time, tickets to the Opening Night game on Saturday, April 7 vs. Miami will be for sale and memberships to the 2012 Reds Heads Kids Club will be available for $25.
The 2012 season marks both the 13th year at Louisville Slugger Field and as an affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. The Bats open their 2012 season on the road on Thursday, April 5th and the first home game is on Friday, April 13 vs. Columbus at 7:05.

FORMER REDBIRD DAVID BELL TO MANAGE BATS IN 2012
Louisville, KY – Former Louisville Redbird David Bell will manage the Louisville Bats in 2012, marking the first time since 2004 that someone other than Rick Sweet will serve as skipper of the Bats. Joining Bell, who spent the last three seasons at Double-A Carolina, on the coaching staff will be Ted Power, who returns for his seventh season as pitching coach for the Bats, and hitting coach Ryan Jackson.
Bell, 39, was manager at Double-A Carolina from 2009 to 2011 and compiled a 176-239 record. The 2009 season marked his first as a manager or coach at the professional level and this will be his first season at the Triple-A level. Bell played parts of 12 seasons in the big leagues with the Indians, Cardinals, Mariners, Giants, Phillies and Brewers. A member of one of Major League Baseball’s three-generation families, Bell is the son of former third baseman, Buddy, and the grandson of former Reds great, Gus. He played for the Louisville Redbirds from 1995 to 1997 and is just one of four players in Louisville franchise history to hit for the cycle.
Ryan Jackson, 40, enters his first season as Louisville’s hitting coach. It will mark his sixth season in the Reds organization and he spent the last three seasons as hitting coach at Double-A Carolina. Jackson enjoyed an 11-year professional career that included parts of four seasons at the Major League level with the Marlins, Mariners, and Tigers.
Former Redbird Ted Power, 56, will enter his seventh season as Louisville’s pitching coach. Power enjoyed a 13-year Major League career, including five seasons (1983-87) with the Reds.
The Bats also are pleased to announce the following front office promotions, Greg Galiette, Sr. Vice President, Marketing, James Breeding, Vice President Business Operations and Scott Shoemaker, Vice President Operations and Technology.
“Greg, James, and Scott have been running the major areas of our business and will continue to assume more responsibilities in the future,” said Louisville Bats President/CEO Gary Ulmer.
The Bats open their 2012 season on the road at Columbus on Thursday, April 5 and then make their 2012 debut at Louisville Slugger Field on Friday, April 13 vs. Columbus at 7:05.
For the first time ever, all 2012 single game events will be available during a December Presale. Fans can purchase tickets for all 72 home games, including Thunder Over Louisville on April 21, Opening Night, and the Independence Day fireworks show on July 3. Tickets will be available to purchase on-line (www.batsbaseball.com), December 1 through December 25.
