Students from Four Top Area High Schools Trade Places on the Football Field to Raise Money for Leukemia
Cincinnati, Ohio, March 8, 2011 – Next month, Saint Ursula Academy, Ursuline Academy, Saint Xavier High School and Moeller High School will join forces for a first-of-its-kind event to raise money for leukemia research.
On April 2nd, 2011, the four schools will join forces to put on The Orange and White Game at St. Xavier High School. But this game is no ordinary competition. The Orange and White Game is a fundraising event where students will switch roles. Rival girls’ schools, Ursuline Academy and Saint Ursula Academy, will go head to head in a flag football game, with two teams composed of seniors from each school. The rival boys’ schools, Moeller High School and Saint Xavier High School, will act as the cheerleaders, competing and performing in the half time show.
All proceeds from this unique and entertaining event will be donated to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center leukemia research. The students from all four schools will sell tickets at school so they can donate as much money to the program as possible. $5 Tickets can be reserved in advance for by emailing CoOtt@saintursula.org. Guests can then pay for and pick up their ticket the day of the game at Will Call. Pre-orders will be taken up until the April 2, 2011. Tickets will also be available for $7.00 at the gate until the stadium reaches its capacity.
The student organizers selected leukemia research at Childrens’ Hospital because a friend and classmate from St. Ursula, Natalie Bradley, lost her battle with leukemia last year.
“This cause is close to our hearts. While all of our schools have friendly rivalries in athletics, we all have a common mission and goal with this project which is to help children fighting leukemia,” said Courtney Ott, an Orange and White game organizer and Student Council Co-President from St. Ursula Academy. “We think it’s going to be a lot of fun and hope everyone can come.”
