NORWARD
WRESTLING

Norwood High School senior Connor Maglecic is the first signee for Campbellsville University head coach Franky James. Maglecic, who is a two-time Ohio state qualifier, will join former Norwood wrestlers Derek and Tyler Alsip on the Tigers' squad.

The 6-foot-2, 189-pounder from Cincinnati posted more than 140 wins during his high school career, including a 37-1 regular season record in 2010-11. He led the Fort Ancient Valley Conference 189 pounders with 25 pins and was third for most pins among all conference wrestlers. His most regular season wins was a 39-3 slate as a junior. He was named a National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) Freshman All-American after finishing sixth at 189 pounds in the 2008 national competition. A four-time district qualifier and two-time state qualifier, Maglecic is a three-time Division II Sectional finalist, winning the section title in 2010. He won Ohio's Fort Ancient Valley Conference 189-pound championship in 2010.

"Connor is a hardworking wrestler from Cincinnati. He would have been an Ohio state placer this year if he had not suffered a concussion late in his senior year. We feel really good about his work ethic and his potential to develop in our program. He has a nice big frame on him and we expect him to grow into a 184 or 197 in college."

Maglecic is the first of many the Tigers hope to sign this offseason, as they've already picked up commitments from two state champions and another top wrestler from Ohio.
