BOY'S GOLF
GIRL'S SOCCER
CHCA Athletic Director Matt Coleman is excited to announce the hiring of Jonathan Williams as the next boys’ varsity golf coach at CHCA. Jonathan, a Class of 1999 graduate of CHCA, brings with him strong professional experience as an Assistant Golf Professional (2003 to present) at the Golf Center at Kings Island. In addition to working as an assistant golf pro, Jonathan’s responsibilities there include managing the Golf Center facility, supervising and implementing junior golf programs with over 175 junior golfers, and instructing individual golf lessons. Jonathan attended the Team Ream Golf school in 2005 and received his PGA Class A membership honor in May of 2010.
“What makes Jonathan a great fit is his heart for God, that he knows and teaches the game of golf well, and that he is an alumnus of CHCA willing to give back to his school,” Coleman says. “We are excited about the passion he has for not only the game of golf, but for CHCA as well.”
Also joining the CHCA coaching staff this year is Abby Schumacher, our next girls’ varsity soccer coach. Coach Shumacher grew up playing club soccer, played four years at Sycamore High School, and four years at Cedarville University. Formerly a girls’ varsity soccer assistant coach, Schumacher has experience leading high school and collegiate soccer camps as well. “We are excited to have Abby become a part of the CHCA family,” Coleman adds. “With her passion for soccer, coaching and pointing everything back to Christ, we look forward to teaming up with her as she leads the CHCA girls’ soccer program.”

SWIMMING
Former Xavier swim coach joins CHCA coaching staff
Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy Athletic Director Matt Coleman announced today that Tassos Madonis will be joining the high school coaching staff. Madonis brings over 35 years of coaching experience with him: 13 years coaching Xavier University’s Men’s and Women’s swimming team, and three years coaching swimming at Cincinnati Christian Schools. Tassos also was the Assistant Director for Recreational Sports for four years at Xavier University, and was a team communications member of the United States contingent at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece. “I knew Tassos when I was Athletic Director at CCS, and was really impressed by his résumé, coaching skills and love for the student-athletes,” Coleman says. “Tassos brings with him a passion for swimming and a passion to share his love of Christ, which makes him a perfect fit for CHCA.”
Madonis will be coaching at CHCA this winter while simultaneously carrying on his coaching duties at CCS. Unorthodox? Yes – but CHCA is not the only school who will be trying this arrangement. “Other schools in our conference, including Seven Hills and Summit, share the same swim coach to a degree,” Coleman explains. “A swim meet is very different than a baseball, soccer or football game where coaches are on the opposite sideline – a swim coach selects his best swimmers to compete in an event for the fastest time and when the horn blows, the coach encourages all their student-athletes in that particular event. CCS happens to practice before school and CHCA practices after school. With this situation, both schools will still get their coach’s full attention.”
One question that remains: what shirt will Coach Madonis wear during the meets? “I’m going to work with CCS on this and get some coaching shirts that have both schools’ logos on the same shirt,” Coleman says. “I’m excited to work with CCS in this capacity and appreciate their willingness and cooperation to share Tassos. Our schools are like-minded and this will be a great opportunity for both of us to take part in something special and unique. This is a win-win for both schools.”
